Videos

To help you make sense of your super, GESB has developed a number of tutorial-style videos.

You can view the following tutorials from this page:

Securing your financial future with GESB Financial Advice

No matter what your situation is, good financial advice can help you plan for your financial future. In this video, we'd like to tell you how you can do that with GESB Financial Advice.  We'll also explain how the advice process works and how you can get into contact with the team.

Choosing an investment strategy

At GESB, we have several different investment options, so you can choose the one that most suits your financial objectives and your lifestyle as you invest for your retirement. This tutorial tells you more about our Readymade plans and how we decide on the mix of assets in each plan.

Co-contributions explained

In this GESB tutorial Katrina Sephton, Account Manager, explains what the Commonwealth Government Co-contribution initiative is, and who can qualify to receive a boost from the Government.  We also look at a case study to illustrate how taxable income determines the amount the Government will contribute to super and how you can calculate how much you'll be eligible for.

Grow your super with salary sacrificing

This tutorial will show you how you can grow your super through salary sacrificing whilst paying less tax.  This is illustrated with an example that shows the difference in tax and take home pay in three different scenarios; without any voluntary contributions to super, when making after-tax contributions or when making before-tax or salary sacrifie contributions to super.

Planning for your retirement

The GESB tutorial on retirement planning will show you how you can start planning for your retirement. We also look at a few options for accessing your super when it's time to start enjoying your retirement benefits and the resources available on the GESB website to help you make sense of your options.

Protecting your wealth and family through insurance

In this GESB tutorial Chris Taylor, Account Manager, explains the types of insurance cover available through your super, why insurance is important and the benefits of having insurance through super.  We also look at a case study to illustrate how much insurance cover you may need and what you can do to find out if your level of insurance cover is enough.

Impacts of 2009 Federal Budget changes to Superannuation

Fabian Ross, Head of Wealth Management and Michael Heffernan, Head of GESB Financial Advice, discuss the changes to superannuation which were announced in the Federal budget 2009/10, and what these changes mean for GESB members.
