GESB Super is available to all new employees who join the WA public sector.

GESB Super is a taxed accumulation superannuation scheme just like most other super funds.  It is also market linked, meaning that when a contribution is made into your super account, the dollar value of the contribution buys new units in your chosen investment plan - i.e. you buy units at the prevailing unit price.

When you exit your super account or take a benefit payment, you sell units at the relevant unit price. Your final benefit payment is calculated by multiplying the number of units in your account by the current unit price of your chosen investment plan.

As a taxed scheme, this means that concessional contributions (such as employer or salary packaged contributions) are taxed at only 15% when the contribution is made and investment earnings are taxed at a maximum of 15% in the year in which they are earned.
