2016/17 Federal Budget - changes to super and retirement income

The Federal Government has made a number of changes to the rules relating to super. These changes were initially announced in the 2016/17 Federal Budget and then amended following public consultation. The legislation giving effect to the changes has passed through Parliament and is now law. We now have more information on how GESB members will be affected.

Shedding light on changes to Commonwealth preservation age
On 1 July 2015, changes to Commonwealth preservation age took effect for members born on or after 1 July 1960. If this is you, these changes have important implications that you should consider before accessing your super, especially if you are also a Gold State Super member.
