To help you grow your super, GESB offers a range of investment plans that target varying levels of risk and return and are designed to give you choice over what your super is invested in. This is called your investment choice and applies to GESB Super and West State Super accounts.

Our investment plans are designed to meet the needs of all types of investors. Each Readymade plan has a different objective for target performance and a unique asset allocation. We also allow you to select your own asset allocation with our MY plan option.

If you do not specify an investment plan, your super is invested into a default investment plan until you select an alternative. For GESB Super the default plan is 'Balanced Growth', for West State Super it is 'Balanced'.

Choosing an investment plan

Every investor is different. Things such as your age, the amount of super you have and your tolerance to market volatility can determine how much risk you are willing to take. We call this your risk profile. Knowing your risk profile can help you choose the investment plan that is right for you.

Investors willing to take on a relatively high amount of risk, or 'growth' investors, typically seek to maximise their longer term investment and are not worried about the possibility of a negative return every three to four years. On the other hand, 'conservative' investors typically seek more stable year-on-year returns.
