Get the most out of your super

5 simple steps to set up your super

Setting up your super is just five simple steps away.  Follow these steps to get started, or if you are a West State Super member, get the most out of  your West State Super:

  1. Register for Member Online. Manage your super account online 24 hours-a-day, 7 days a week.
  2. Lodge your Tax File Number (TFN) if you haven't provided it already. You don't have to provide your TFN, but if you don't you may pay more tax than you need to. Lodge your TFN through Member Online or complete and post a Tax File Number form.
  3. Choose an investment plan that suits your investment strategy.  Consider your investment strategy and choose from a range of investment plans with different risks and returns.  Your super will automatically be invested in the Balanced Growth Plan, the current default plan, unless you've chosen a different investment plan.  You can choose an alternative through Member Online, or by completing an Investment Choice form.
  4. Check your insurance cover. Find out if you're eligible for insurance cover, check whether it is appropriate for your needs and check that you are in the right occupation category.
  5. Read GESB Super Product information Booklet. Keep this handy for information about investment plans, tax considerations, how to make extra contributions to your super and more.

Other ways to get your super in order

  1. Find your lost super. Millions of Australians have lost super when they've changed jobs or addresses - find your lost or unclaimed super in three easy steps.
  2. Roll over your super. It makes sense to have all of your super in one place. To roll your super into your GESB account, just complete and send in a Super Consolidation form for each super fund you'd like to transfer into your account. We'll do the rest.
  3. Add to your super. A little extra now can make a big difference later. You can make additional contributions directly to GESB or through your employer by completing a Super Contributions form, or make BPAY payments using Member Online.
  4. Attend a free seminar. The more you know about super, the more control you have over your financial future.  Our free seminars are run by qualified and experienced consultants who are happy to answer any questions you may have about your super.
